FAQ (2023)
Film Review
Watching and learning about the movie, FAQ, at the Fantasia International Film Festival, on July 25th 2024, was enjoyable. It's a pleasure for me to write this positive review based on my recollection and understanding from watching that movie one time and from a little research. This movie shows an interesting mystery: Dong-chun, an elementary school student, becomes more motivated to do her studies due to the beverage she found that communicates with her via bubbles that come off as Morse Code which translates to Farsi, which, fortunately, she studies. Understanding the rice wine's language and keeping the beverage a secret from everyone else including her parents leads Dong-chun to go on a journey. In addition to keeping our interest with a stimulating mystery, the message of this film is commendable as it is the purpose of life and the reasons for studying and going to school. The message of this film which is given straight forward in the final scene can answer questions young people can have. Grown-ups can also enjoy learning the message of this film because it can help them reconnect with their imaginative sides since it is needed in order to fulfill the purpose. Lastly, people with an interest in the field of science can enjoy this movie since it touches the subject on how micro organisms were the first existing beings before earth.
